Oh, Yes I Can

How many times have you thought to yourself why me?  Did you ever feel as if everything that can go wrong is going wrong in your life at a particular time?   Well, we all go through seasons in our lives. Seasons where we experience joy and happiness. Or seasons of sadness and grief. And even seasons of frustration and anger.  Just because these seasons occur doesn’t mean that you have to stay in that season.  When you are going through a difficult time in your life, you need to believe that you can overcome.

When I look back over my life I feel blessed but I also think about how far I’ve come.  When difficulties would arise I would always think that someone else is going through something that was tougher than my current situation.  My response was not to have a pity party, well maybe just a little one.  But it wouldn’t last long because I needed to make the situation work in my favor.  Remember, what your enemies intend to bring you pain and harm can be turned into something great.

Think about the struggles that you may be facing.  Is it your job, a relationship, a disconnect with the family, depression, self esteem, anxiety or fear?  The key is to focus on the things that you can control.  I learned that I couldn’t control infertility, autism, epilepsy and my failing marriage.  I admit that all of these seasons brought me sadness, made me anxious and worry.   But I began to embrace them and praise God.  That is when I noticed that my seasons began to shift and change.  I believed that God would give me the wisdom and strength to endure and my  mindset changed.  Now this shift didn’t happen overnight and many tears were shed.  So if you want a quick fix, it doesn’t work that way.  Anything worth having requires work!

At that time in my life I couldn’t see that all of my seasons would prepare me for the next hurdle. And as I jumped each hurdle, I would get stronger because I knew that another hurdle would be coming along. You have that same power inside of you to jump over the hurdles and move on to the next season.  As you do that, you will come closer to your breakthrough.   It always gets tougher just before your blessing comes.  So don’t let your season and circumstance break you.

Face your fears and walk boldly!
