A Work of Art

Whenever I think about making pottery. I always think of that scene from Ghost with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze.  Don’t worry my blog is G-rated.

Take a minute and think about how you make pottery.  You have to mold it and shape your final creation into a work of art. Harrison made many pottery crafts for me when he was younger.  I would say thank you for my cup and he would say it was a bowl.  I would say thanks for my plate and he would say it is a coaster.  It was all in my perspective.  I was wrong every time.

We all are a work of art.  Some of us are still in the creation stage, the molding phase and some are ready to be displayed as the finished product.  No matter where you are in life there will be times when you break.  Not all of you, but pieces of you.

At the loss of a job, a friendship, a relationship or a family you may break into tiny pieces.  Of course I am reminded of Humpty Dumpty, when I was broken into many pieces.  It would surely take more than the kings’ horses and kings’ men to put me back together. It would take a miracle.

Day by day, I wouldn’t look at all of the tiny pieces that were shattered in front of me.  I decided to focus on one piece of my life at a time.  Would I be perfect when I was glued back together?  Probably not.  But I would have all of my life back and that was important to me.

When you are broken people will judge you and gossip about you.  Remember they don’t know your journey.  They only see pieces of you.  You have to remember that you have a purpose.  In the end you will shine differently.  You will walk and talk differently.  You put your pieces back together the way that you desired.  Don’t be shocked if people don’t recognize you.  The new you is perfectly made.
