The kids and I have a family meeting once a week. Things have been hectic so its been a few weeks since our last meeting. At our family meetings we have norms and an agenda. It doesn’t last long. There is just enough time for us to talk about what we are thankful for, things we can celebrate and discuss any problems.
At our meeting last night I gave the kids their Valentine Hearts for their bedroom doors. Each day leading up to Valentine’s Day I will give them a reminder of how much they are loved. I made extra hearts in case they want to write one for each other. I was going to have them write hearts for me, but I changed my mind. For the next thirteen days I will write my own love notes about what I love about myself. This was another great Pinterest or Facebook find! I can’t take credit for this idea at all.
I thought about doing this activity for the entire month of February. But I thought that it would be more meaningful if we stopped on Valentine’s Day and celebrated my birthday too. Harrison and Sydney were very excited about our project. To make it easier for me. I sat down last night and wrote all of the hearts ahead of time for each of them. Then in the morning I just tape a heart on their door and keep it moving.
This was a reminder for me that no matter how busy life gets. It is very important to tell people in our lives how much we love them and how much they mean to us. A kind word, a smile, text or a phone call could make the difference in how a person starts their day. Your positive comments might be the only good thing they hear that day. You are smart! You are beautiful! I love your hair! You are great at technology. You are an awesome parent! You are a good friend. I love you!
Will you take a minute to tell someone how much you love them today? Here’s the true test. Can you spread love to someone who has hurt you in the past? I’m so moved right now I think I’ll text Rob! Jesus take the wheel, that’s the sleep deprivation talking.
This is such a great idea! 😘. I need to text my sons and hubby everyday just to say hey, I love you!
