When I hear “This is a test of the emergency broadcast system, this is just a test.”, I cringe. Next ,I hear that annoying buzzing siren. But that annoying siren could save my life if there was in fact a real emergency. One day that buzzing siren alerted me to situations that I needed to escape from.
Sometimes when we go through life we must learn that we are being tested. These tests are not meant to break us. They are meant to make us stronger and sometimes even to wake us up and bring us back to reality.
2 Corinthians 12:7-10
7 Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
What are the thorns in your side? Who are the thorns in your side? What are the things that tug at your spirit morning, noon and night? What causes you sleepless nights and worry? That buzzing siren and thorns in your side work together. So pay attention. This is a reminder that you are in the middle of a test. God wants to see how you will respond.
Yes, we want the pain gone, and siren to stop buzzing. But we must learn to be content and see our hardships, and thorns as a blessing. This thorn in your side will make you stronger than you ever realized you could be. Don’t let the enemy of whatever you are battling steal your joy each day. Get up with a purpose, with a plan and be productive.
Face your hardships head on. We all experience moments of weakness. Just remember that you have the power to rise up, remove the thorn from you side and live your life to the fullest!
