Don’t Lose Your Roots

Always remember where you came from. Never forget the people that were by your side from the beginning. Always keep growing. It sounds so simple yet very hard to do at times.

I’m great at staying grounded. I could learn how to fly a bit more and step out of my comfort zone. I’ve even tried turning over a new leaf for the past three weeks. And it’s still not turning out the way I had planned. Guess it’s time to pick a new leaf.

Last week I had some interesting encounters. I know I’m blogging in code but I’m not ready to share with all of you just yet. I had to remember that this person’s actions were meant to break me. My response would be key. I had to adjust, bend and call on Jesus. I even had to add some dramatic scenes to our discussion. And The Oscar for leading actress in a drama serious goes to…. You guessed it me. #ididthatshit

I continue to learn about myself. I’m constantly trying to make improvements with my personal and professional life.

When I took the time to reflect. I noticed that my tree was similar to the Charlie Brown tree at Christmas. I lost my way this past year. I was ready to throw in the towel. Wave the white flag. And sing like the fat lady.

For a moment I thought I could make it on my own. Reality quickly taught me that it’s okay to go back to your roots and get grounded. Remember to stand tall and thou shall not be moved.

For the next 82 days I will work on me! I’ll make sure to cultivate the things that I need to and prune the things I need to remove. Don’t worry about your neighbor’s tree?

Have you looked at the trees in your own yard lately?
